Our P&C works hard to promote a strong relationship between parents, citizens, students and teachers through a range of programs, initiatives and events.

The P&C aims to:

  • support the education and wellbeing of our children by fostering close cooperation between parents and the school
  • act as a liaison between parents and the school
  • act as a forum for parents to find out what is happening in, and planned for, the school
  • raise funds to provide services, facilities and equipment for the school
  • represent the views of parents in school decision-making eg. by sitting on school committees and contributing to the development of school policies
  • act on broader community issues that impact on the welfare and safety of students e.g. traffic and pedestrian safety around the school
  • act on broader educational issues, particularly through its membership of the NSW Federation of P&C Associations.

Activities that the P&C undertake include

  • running the school uniform shop
  • running the school canteen
  • supporting the Learning Enrichment Program where students can undertake extra curricular learning on school premises
  • assisting in the planning and caring of the school grounds
  • liaison with the Out of Hours School Care provider
  • fundraising and social events.

The P&C works with the Principal to allocate P&C funds . Examples include the purchase of classroom smartboard technologies, classroom readers, supporting the school equity fund and purchasing musical instruments for rental.

Sub-committees

Beautification & Landscaping

This committee has a focus on the general uplift of school grounds and establishing a good line of communication with the school. The overall objective is to make the school more inviting for prospective and new families by enhancing the presentation of the school.

Some examples of work to date include the amphitheatre murals and landscaping of the surrounding areas.

Canteen

Dulwich Hill Public School is proud to have a canteen managed by the School P&C and is therefore not-for-profit and provides healthy food at a reduced cost to parents and carers.

Our Canteen is an accredited NSW Healthy School Canteen and we provide healthy meals and snacks that are hand-made daily in our canteen for students and staff.

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop is run by the P&C Association. Parent volunteers run the shop as Coordinators, supported by regular parent volunteers working in the shop. The shop opens Tuesday and Fridays 8:30 - 9:30 am during school terms. The Uniform Shop is located around the corner from the canteen, on the way to the OOSH room.

The Uniform Shop offers a variety of brand new and second hand school uniform items. Each item has a small mark-up and all profits are used to purchase resources for the school.

For any questions or queries please email us at dullyuniforms@gmail.com.

Dully Chill

Dully Chill is a fundraising arm to the DHPS P&C. We exist to celebrate our wonderful community, both within our school and the local residents of Dulwich Hill.

Our aim is to create greater awareness of our school and local community by creating fun garments and merchandise that celebrate the vibrant and diverse community of our wonderful suburb, Dulwich Hill.

All profits go directly to Dulwich Hill Public School, which in turn is used to fund a variety of projects such as infrastructure, uniforms, canteen and school events.

Out of school hours

Dulwich Hill Public School has an outside school hours care program run by Team Kids. A parent representative liaises between Team Kids, service users and the school. The representative meets with Team Kids staff once a week and with school staff on a regular basis.

Dully Grounds / Sustainable Sundays

The Dully Grounds are integral to school life as a place for learning, playing and community gatherings as well as forming part of the urban wildlife corridor. The Dully Grounds include the kitchen garden with established fruit trees, water-saving wicking beds, and a community composting system maintained by the Dully Dirt Stirrers; extensive native garden beds which provide habitat and support biodiversity as part of the Goolay-yari (Cooks River) catchment area; a frog and small-bird habitat, feed by a rain-garden, where students can observe tadpoles and learn about the urban watershed; a mud 'rocket' stove for outdoor cook-outs at community gatherings; and the yarning circle where students can gather to share ideas.

The Dully Grounds have been established and nurtured over many years by students, families and teachers. There are many ways to get involved, regularly or just occasionally. There are regular Sustainable Sunday working bee events which include weeding and garden maintenance, mending and repurposing of school uniforms, and community connection. The Dully Dirt Stirrers are always ready to welcome new compost enthusiasts to turn bins, collect brown waste and support classroom composting. There are also regular opportunities for parents and carers to support outdoor lessons.
